Installation Training Program

Installation training, among other things, came into the spotlight in late 2006 during a Coroners Inquest into a collapse of a storage system which resulted in the death of a worker.

One of the recommendations put forward by the jury was that the people who install, maintain and repair the storage systems must be trained in how to do this properly.

Generally speaking, most manufacturers of storage systems will not warranty any system not installed by a professional installation company. Unfortunately someone could open a business tomorrow calling themselves an installation company even though they have no experience performing this work. Just because someone can build a bay of shelving, does not mean they are qualified to build a four story high pick module. This could have serious consequences if the installation is done poorly.

SafeRack has had in place and in development since 2005, programs for training installation technicians on the proper way to accomplish the various tasks that they must be competent at performing. These programs will continue to evolve as new systems appear in the marketplace and as the standards change.

This is typically both in-class and hands-on training which requires the demonstration of proficiency in the skill sets needed to safely and properly install the storage system.

The various types of storage systems covered include:

  • Selective Racking
  • Pallet Flow
  • Push Back
  • Carton Flow
  • Pick Modules
  • Drive-In
  • Cantilever
  • Pallet Runner
  • Shelving
